Hello everyone, we had another good week out here in Wilcox and being honest the quarentine really hasn't been that bad. Elder hair and I have found good ways to use our time and the days honestly feel like they're flying by and that we don't have enough time. We have been doing a good amount a service, playing basketball, reading the scriptures, listening to conference talks and just talking to one another. It's been an enjoyable couple weeks and i don't think we could've chosen a better area to be other than Wilcox during all of this. the members keep us up to date with all the food we could possibly need and then some, today at the store we only bought milk and water because that's all we needed. We have been eatting well and continuing with our goal to read the book of mormon in spanish by Conference and have made some good ground since last week, i made it to the book of heleman yesterday and i am learning so much reading the book of mormon in this manner.
It has really opened my eyes to the true purpose of The Book of Mormon and that truely is to testify of Jesus Christ, The Son of God and the true role that He has as our Savior and Redeemer. I feel like I lose this often when I read The Book of Mormon looking more so at the evidence it gives to the true prophetic call of Joseph Smith or the Truth behind the restoration of the Church but i lose sight of what it's really trying to do, testify about Jesus Christ. I have seen that Prophet after Prophet testifies about the divinity of Christ and our absolute need for him.
2 Nephi 9:20-22 (jacob)
"O how great the holiness of our God! For he knoweth all things, and there is not anything save he knows it.
And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam.
And he suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all might stand before him at the great and judgment day."
2 Nephi 25:26 (Nephi)
"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
Enos 1:5-8 (enos)
5.And there came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed.
6.And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away.
7.And I said: Lord, how is it done?
8.And he said unto me: Because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass away before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee whole.
Mosiah 3:7-8 (king benjamin)
7.And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
8And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.
Mosiah 13: 28 (Abinidi)
28 And moreover, I say unto you, that salvation doth not come by the law alone; and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.
Alma 7: 11-13. (Alma hijo)
11And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
13Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me
These are but few of the MANY examples of the bold testimonies these men gave of our Savior and Redeemor Jesus Christ, many of them to the death. This is the purpose of The Book of Mormon and why we are able to gain a testimony of these things, the rest is just excess blessings that we recieve but The testimony of Christ is why we all read this book. I have a testimony of it's truth and it grows everyday as a I prayerfully search. Prepare for conference, hear the prophets voice and you will hear God's will for his children comfirmed to us by The Holy Ghost.
