The miracle of Golf

 Dear family and friends,

We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.

This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to a few contacts before dinner and in those 2 quick contacts that we went to we handed out a copy of The Book of Mormon and found a new person to begin teaching. I was left to ponder about this for a while, why had God blessed us so much even though basically the rest of that day we were golfing? I felt very strongly that God knew that despite my love for golf that was not the reason we were playing. We used our personality, talents, and abilities to share the gospel with someone. It was one of the most personal ways that I felt I was able to share the gospel and really reach someone. It showed me that despite the other days in the week where we had made many more contacts, that despite these many contacts we didn't really see any initial success. But when we really used the gifts the Lord gave us we saw success! The lord does not want robots, he wants us to be ourselves and be creative to reach others. It was a good day.

I don't know if it was a result of us using our talents and abilities on Friday that set us up for the downpour of miracles we saw on Saturday but we were very blessed! We went out and hit the ground running. We started the afternoon with lunch at costa vida and we are 4/4 this transfer on getting paid for there. The members are amazing. We have been saved probably $160 combined in eating out this transfer alone. It's pretty crazy. We went to Costa vida with my good friend Marco then we got to work. We saw so many cool miracles that day and the lord truly guided us to those who were prepared. We handed out 4 copies of The Book of Mormon with new people and we found some new people to start teaching which was awesome! We had an amazing lesson with a woman named Mary that we had not been able to get in contact with for some time but she said Saturday worked so we ran with it. We felt inspired shortly into our conversation to share the restoration with her and it was a great lesson. We often use the analogy of something being broken into pieces to show what happened when Christ and His apostles died and his church breaking up into apostasy. She had a tv there and we used that for the analogy this time about how when the apostasy happened the entire truth was lost but portions permitted but not the whole church or tv. It just clicked for her. At the end of the lesson she said, "I've always noticed that the catholic church was missing pieces of the trust but I didn't know that the truth could be out there. Maybe this is what I've been looking for." It was amazing. We asked her to pray about The Book of Mormon And Joseph Smith's claim to be a prophet. She responded with, "there is no need. You guys wouldn't be here today if he was not a prophet. I believe." Pretty awesome and out of left field.

We were very blessed this week and I can only thank the lord for these blessings. It was nothing of our own doing! I'm so happy to be a missionary and to be in Tucson. I intend to enjoy the rest of my time here and continue on with faith.

One thing this woman always emphasises and almost over emphasises is that she, like nephi, was born of godly parents. I am grateful for my parents and all that they have sacrificed to allow me to be here. They are examples of Christ-like living.

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
