Ya me voy

Dear family and friends,

I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it was as small as just speaking with one person but we were where we were needed and that was enough. I learned a lot in this time and would not trade the lessons and experience I gained for anything. I do look forward to this next chapter of my mission and life here in Tucson. My companion Elder jensen told me when I first got back to the mission, "you and I are gonna be companions one day." He was persistent on this for the next months that followed and I didn't think much of it but now it has come to pass and I could not be more excited. He is an experienced and dedicated missionary and I'm thrilled to see what the lord will be able to accomplish with us together.

Despite my previous words on the transfer and the opposition that we confronted it was in no way all bad. This past sunday we had one of the most powerful finding, and teaching experiences of my mission and forsure of this transfer.

A few weeks back we had felt prompted to go and street contact in a given neighborhood. We didn't think too much about it we just went. Shortly after arriving and about 25 second into walking around this member from one of the english wards waved us over and we sparked up a conversation with him. He told us he had served his mission in Spain and that he spoke Spanish and we helped him move his treadmill. We used this opportunity to ask him if he knew anyone in his neighborhood that spoke spanish. He pointed out to us a few of his neighbors but he said, "you need to visit my next door neighbor Jose hed be perfect!" We heeded his council and went and visited jose a few days later. We had a brief visit and got his phone number and there we were able to set up a lesson. The lesson happened to fall on this past sunday in the evening. When we got to their house they let us in and it was him and his son Daniel that was 14 years old. We talked with them for a short time, getting to know them a little bit and we jumped into the lesson. From the get go the spirit was just there, their participation was so genuine and true it was awesome. The message of the restoration just made sense to them. They talked about how they have always searched but they just haven't felt that true connection yet. We shared with them the book of Mormon and they seemed like kids in a candy store, it was amazing. During my mission I have gotten choked up saying Joseph Smith's words describing the first vision just twice and this was one of them. It really impacted me and I could feel the spirit so strongly. We visited with them for sometime afterwards but it was amazing to see how the lord had prepared us for that day and that lesson. It made it all worth it and I'm excited to see what happens next with them!

I'm happy to be where I'm at and I know this time does not last forever. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows as a missionary but there is power and conviction in knowing that God is with you and holding you up.

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...
