One year in Tucson

Tomorrow I will hit one year since I first arrived in Tucson. It's crazy to think about and process that. I'm very fortunate that I've had this time back in the mission and I truly would not trade it for anything. It has been some of the best times but it has also been some really hard times in this past year. Never have I been brought down to my knees with no where else to go than in these past 12 months. Prayer has been such a great support to me in this past year. I don't know what I would do with out it. Being able to communicate with heaven gives me so much hope. Prayer has calmed so many of the storms that I've confronted in the past year. It reminds me where i place my faith, who I believe in and who I trust in each day. Life is not an easy task but we do not have to make this journey alone. Each day that I pray I invite Gods presence into my life and ask for His guidance. I have felt that power each day that I ask for his help. Often it is a small assurance that I'm doing the right thing or that i need to deviate my course in a small way but it points me in the right direction. I've learned what it means to have faith. Learning how to trust in something I dont fully understand but have received enough to keep moving forward. It is a refining process but it has allowed me to grow. God rarely solves our problems for us but gives us the inspiration and help we need so that we can solve them ourselves. At times this tries my patience but each time I'm able to walk a little but further into the dark before I feel the power of the light. I'm grateful for God. I'm grateful for my family and their patience and love for me. I have great friends and have made so many of them in this past year. I look forward to see how the Lord will refine me in the next 2 months. I will trust in him.

This week we had zone conference and that went well. I was able to go on exchanges with one of my past companions, elder Girgenti. We went out with what little time we had together and shared the book of mormon with a man named Joe. Afterwards we felt prompted to knock a certain apartment and we talked with a woman named Nicole. She shared with us some of her back ground in religion and how she has seen Gods hand in her life. We prayed with her and set up a lesson for saturday. (We had the lesson and it was super awesome) It was good to work with him again for the day. He is a good man and a great missionary.

Later that week we had exchanged with Elder Smith and Soifua. Elder Smith and I had such a great day. We felt prompted to visit this long less active member and she was a little cold to us at the start. We offered to sweep her porch and she agreed. As we swept she told us about how she was struggling and dealing with the ordeals of her life. She also told us about her conversion to the church in California. As we left I felt prompted to ask if she would like a priesthood blessing for her sickness she was dealing with. She said yes. In the blessing I said many things but one in particular stood out to her. Afterwards she had her hands on her face as she wept. She told us how that was an answer to her prayers. She asked for the times for church so that she could partake of the sacrament and renew her covenant with the lord. We saw many cool things that day but it was good to work with Elder Smith.

Later on in that week Elder Torgerson and I were able to reconnect with a man that previously was taught by other missionaries. We shared with him the book of mormon and set up a time to visit him in the coming week.

It was a great week and we saw many cool miracles throughout it. We had two of our friends come to church to hear elder Torgerson speak in church. We are also preparing for Tommyee's baptism this coming Saturday. She is such a great lady. Please pray for her.

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
