90 days

This week was really good! We were able to get a lot done, saw some miracles, and had some good times along the way! This week we had a lot of success setting up appointments with different people and had a few good lessons as well.

This week we had interviews with our mission president which is always good. I was able to talk with him for a while about some questions that I had, my companion and our area. Towards the end of the interview he asked me what our plans were for that night and we had a lesson planned with our friend Tommyee and some of the members of the ward. He didn't have any plans for the night so he asked if he could accompany us on the lesson! It was a really cool opportunity to be able to teach with him and Tommyee is literally the coolest lady and had some amazing questions for us. She has been preparing for baptism and we read in D&C 20:37 the Lords requirements for baptism with her. She came to the realization that she's ready and we invited her to think of a baptismal date. It was an awesome lesson with her and the spirit was very strong. She texted us the next day with a baptismal date of December 18th! She is so excited!

This week we also had the chance to partcipate in a ward talent show. I didn't have any plans of participating in the talent show but the guy put me down for a dramatic reading of this statement from a speach from Patrick Henry. It was pretty random but was a fun night with all the other talents.

We also met this really cool man named Joshua Blessing. He legally changed his name to Blessing when he converted to Judism. He was such an awesome and down to earth guy. He had so many questions about what we do as missionaries and the gospel that we share with others. We exlained The Book of Mormon and why it is important and he really wanted a copy. He also lives about a block from the church and invited himself to come to a service. He is an awesome man and we're excited to see what comes out of meeting with him!

One of the questions that I had been pondering before my interview with my mission president was, "If the gospel is true, and we're The Lords true servants why can people not recognize it more easily?" I was pondering this and went into my personal study of the scriptures just picking up where I had been reading in the  book of acts, in chapter 28. The answer to my question came from verses 23-27. Here it talks about the people that came to Paul to hear his teachings about Christ and His Gospel. It talks here about how some were converted and how others were not. It then tells you why, some people were ready for the message, others were not. It opened my eyes to the fact that God will not give us a witness that we cannot handle, that would just further condem us if we were to turn away. I love how the scriptures can instruct us in what we need to know in order to help other people. It is always a delight to read them daily.

Have a good week,

Elder Holman

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
