Zone conference

This week was really great and so much has happened! We had zone conference and I was able to go on two exchanges, one with Elder Otuafi who was actually trained by Hunter and an Elder named Elder Boswell who leaves to Equador this next week.

First off, zone conference was amazing. We received some really great trainings and just some of the stuff that President Grisel shared really spoke to me personally. He talked about full commitment to the cause that we are supporting as missionaries and talked about how we need to decide today that this is where God needs us to be and to not doubt but look forward with faith and trust in him. I have enjoyed being in my current zone and being able to live so close to him and his family and having the opportunity to see him as he really is. Today I got a hair cut from sister Grisel and he talked with us about a mission wide devotional that were having tomorrow and it was just awesome to see how much inspiration he receives but also how humble he is and quick to admit areas that he needs support in.

My exchanges with these two elders this week were amazing. Elder Otuafi is the funniest person ever. He is just a light to be around and is full of charity. He is not able to return home to Tonga due to the pandemic and is extending his mission and is nothing but optimistic about this extra time he'll have in the mission. We focused on our exchange on following the spirit and we saw so many awesome miracles. We had ward coordination in their ward and sought inspiration as a group on who we needed to visit and he said a name and we thought, awesome let's do it! We then got in the car and found out that it was in the town above the town we were already in and a town that they'd only visit on Saturdays due to miles but the spirit told us to go so we followed suit. We went up to San Manuel Arizona which is kinda a failed mine town and pretty impoverished people but we were right where we needed to be. We got a referral right while we were there and it was amazing. This woman told us we could come over and on her porch we just boldly testified that God has a plan for us and had the opportunity to pray with her and her daughter it was super cool.

On my exchange with elder Boswell it was pretty short lived because it was after zone conference but we had a good time together following the spirit and seeing where the Lord needed us to go. I'm sad that he'll be leaving the mission this next week but he's going where the lord needs him!

Elder Girgenti and I have been really working hard this week but not seeing the immediate fruit we may have been hoping for but we look forward with faith and know were doing what were supposed to do! The work is good!

To all of the Holman family out there I'm saddened I wasn't able to join you all in San Clemente this year but there is a a neighborhood in our area called San Clemente and I visited that this week in remembrance of you all <3 Good luck Scott and Kelly on your new calling!!

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
