Staying on the border

Good afternoon brothers and sisters with transfers this week we've got the news, I'm staying in Nogales! They're sending elder ramierez to the other Nogales area which will kinda stink to not have a native spanish speaker anymore because he's helped my Spanish grow so much these last 6 weeks! As for me I'm getting one of the new spanish missionaries to the mission to train so that means I'll probably be here in Nogales for 2 more transfers or 7 1/2 months in total! It will be really good to stay I love this ward and the people that were teaching and have seen so many blessings these last 2 weeks of the transfer! Many of the people were teaching have been good about coming to church and are learning so much through the book of mormon and praying its awesome to see the blessing this gospel is in our lives! We had a lesson with Mary and a sister from the ward and the sister bore her testimony of the atonement and began crying and then Mary started crying and they just talked for a while about Christ and his love for us, the spirit was so strong! The work is going awesome and I feel that I'm truly getting a hang of the work now!

This week in my study I was reading about alot of things but something that really stood out to me was D&C 88: 62-63

62 And again, verily I say unto you, my friends, I leave these sayings with you to ponder in your hearts, with this commandment which I give unto you, that ye shall call upon me while I am near—
63 Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you

It's all about drawing nearer to Christ and him drawing nearer unto us until our faith in complete and we see him. I have seen this so much on my mission. Before my mission I did the normal things: went to church, fulfilled callings, read the scriptures all the things we should do to draw unto "him". But I did all these things with out true purpose a majority of time and didn't see their full power.

My mission has been the time where I've sought him and his blessings and done these things with true purpose of heart and I can feel his presence drawing nearer to me! I have learned so much from my mission in this short period of time but the biggest thing I've found is a love for the things that bring me closer to my father in heaven and jesus christ: scripture study, purposeful prayer, fasting and serving others are the ways we can seek him and as we do this he seeks us out until the day that the undeniable truth and testimony is within us that he is our savior, that his church is upon the earth, the book of mormon is his word and that Joseph Smith was his prophet. All of these things can be known if we seek him out. If we look for him we shall find what we seek and when we find it we choose whether to accept or deny him. The importance of this work is beyond question the most important work to be done upon the Earth.

In Mosiah 28: 3

3 Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble

If we took the perspective that these brothern took about this work we see the nessecisty to share this gospel because the difference of having and accepting it and not is salvation from endless woe and torment. These are our heavenly brothers and sister and we have received the charge from God to help in his harvest and gather his sheep.

I know this work to be true and I know this by the effort of seeking its truth and accepting the answer that I received. It's for all and after we seek, recieve and accept then it is our charge to serve him, serve him who saved us. Serve him in this ever urgent work. Share what you know and relish in the peace this Gospel brings.

Thank you everyone who supports me and I appreciate all that you all do for me. Have a great week.

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
