The fruit of life

Buenas días! It was another really good week in the work of the lord we saw tons of miracles this week in finding, teaching and serving! I love how in the scriptures it uses the word joy as opposed to happiness because there is quite a substantial difference in the two. This is so true in missionary work in seeing the difference. Many things you do before the mission bring you happiness, all of which are things that are good but maybe not the best. My mission thus far has really opened me up to the things that bring me true Joy and peace, things that I did before my mission but not to the extent that I am doing them now. These things being: scripture study, constant prayer and being constantly there to serve others. It has really showed me the world of joy qnd knowledge that I was missing out on because I was so focused on myself and things that truly weren't as important.

There is so much power reading the scriptures daily and helping others to learn to understand them and love them as well. I feel so much peace as I read the powerful accounts of the Savior and his prophets in the scriptures and the lessons that they convey have so much power and depth they truly enlighten your mind as soul as you diligently read and study them.

The second being constant prayer. Constant prayer has allowed me to more fully invite and feel the spirit with me in my life and in this work. We all have the ability to constantly call upon the lord in prayer to help us in our trials and afflictions. I love alma 37:36 because of the truth behind it which says,

"Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever"

If we truly place our hearts and souls constantly in the hands of God through prayer he is bound to bless and help us.

The last of these simple truths that have brought me joy is being constantly at the disposal to serve others. Serving others brings a certain peace, trust, love and knowledge of those who are less fortunate than yourself to see how you can help to bless them in their lives. The second great commandment is to love thy neighbor as thy self (Matthew 22: 39) this love includes serving those who are less fortunate than you with love and compassion. On my mission I have seen many people in need and there are many in the world, having the ability to help them makes me so grateful and humbled by the love and opportunities god has blessed me with in my life because I truly am so blessed.

I invite all to come, see and partake of the fruit of the tree because having these thing in my life so fully has brought me joy, it saddens me that I could've had this my whole life but it took this to show me what i was missing out on and has truly changed my life. Read 1 Nephi 8, look at the symbolism of the fruit and see what you need to do to more fully partake of the fruit of the tree because it has changed my life so much with the knowledge I now have.

Thank you everyone for the love and support you all give me on my mission I am truly grateful for all of you. Have a wonderful week and come unto christ!

The miracle of Golf

Dear family and friends,  We had a really great week this past week! We worked really hard and made a ton of contacts with people in our area and saw a lot of cool tender mercies and miracles! Elder Torgerson and I have been trying out a new style of contacting this past week and it's been really awesome. We put a different contact in for every 15 minute period during our day. Some take longer, some are shorter but it allows us to get in with some people we have not seen for quite a while.  This past week we also went golfing with Tommyee's husband David. We got special permission from our mission President to go and play with him! As many of you may know I love to Golf and so does David so it worked out and we went and played 18 holes at the course in their neighborhood. It was the first time in my life that I've actually played 18 holes and it took a lot longer than we had anticipated it was going to. We were diligent that as soon as we got done we changed and went to ...

Last Haul

Well I'm pushing into the last week of my mission. It is hard to believe that this really is the end. It doesn't feel all too different from everything else that I've done these last 14 months, it just feels like the end of another transfer. I would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to seeing family and friends, some of which I have not seen for nearly 3 years which is crazy to think about. I have cherished the time I've had to serve as a missionary and I'm super grateful that I was able to return to be a full time missionary despite the obstacle of the pandemic. I welcome what comes next and I really don't have too much of an idea as to what lies ahead of me at this point. There is a lot that still is up in the air but I know that the Lord will provide.  This past week was good. Fairly normal. We were able to teach some lessons. Meet some new people. Share the gospel with others and we had some great meals provided for us.  We actually had the oppo...

Ya me voy

Dear family and friends, I received news this past saturday that I will be leaving Sahuarita and Elder Mortenson and heading back up to Tucson. We have 4 tucson zones in the mission and this will be the last one I need to serve in, east zone. I'm excited to for the change and am very optimistic about the area! I was only here for 6 weeks in this area and with elder Mortenson during his training so it will be sad to leave it all behind. This has been one of my most challenging transfers of my mission thus far and the Lord really refined and humbled me in the process, he has a way of doing that to us. I have never pleaded more for heavenly help for something beyond my own personal needs than I have in this past transfer. It truly brought me down to the lowest depth of humility and made me stand back multiple times and say, "I dont know what to do, take my hand and guide me." Each time that I was humble enough to utter that phrase the Lord guided everytime, sometimes it wa...
