Another great week down here in Nogales, Arizona. To be honest this was probably the best week of my mission so far for many reasons but specifically: seeing people change by the gospel, finishing the book of mormon, the work BOOMING, exchanged with the Zone leaders, people actually coming to church, and seeing my growth in the language. All of which i will go unto more detail on. Starting with seeing people change by this gospel and by the power of Jesus Christ and his atonement. We are teaching a young man who is addicted to Cristal meth and cigarettes and it was really not worth it to teach him before because he'd always be high but we read chapter 89 with him and talked about the word of wisdom and its blessings. We promised him strength to overcome his addiction when he prays and reads the scriptures and that we' visit him everyday at 2 to check up on him. Never have I seen so much of a change in someone in three days than I did with him in these three days where we taught him and to see his will and the will of god to help him quit his drugs. He has been a week sober and going because of his desire to follow god because he knows it will bring him the most happiness. We also had the opportunity to invite Raul to be babtised and the spirit was so strong and he said that he would pray for a specific day, he later came to church Sunday and filled out the pamphlet for the new youth program and his goals that he wrote for spiritual and social were to be babtised and to serve a mission, a 11 year old boy with no members in his family and has told him family to follow the word of wisdom and gave them propel instead of coffee and tea, its crazy to see how much hes grown in the gospel so fast by the power of god. The hand of god has truly been so strong in this work it's awesome.
Another significant event this week was i hit my three months of having been out on my mission and finished the book of mormon the same day. I read the 10th chapter of Moroni 4 times over two days and there is so much power and testimony in that chapter from Moroni about the savior and the power that this book will posses and I was in awe reading verse 32 and the testimony he bears on Christ and the love he has of Christ.
"Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."
I can truly testify of the truth and divinity of what Moroni says here and the power Christ and his atonement. I know the book of mormon to be the word of almighty god and here for the converting of Jew and gentile unto the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ the savior of all man kind. I know that you can know this for yourself if you read this book and pray to know fo yourself, the holy ghost will testify these things unto you! (Moroni 10: 3-5)
I invite all who haven't to read the book of mormon to see for yourself!
I had a really cool experience with the language this week also. I have been a little worried about if I'm progressing in the language because we teach a lot in English and didn't use much spanish. So we've been talking a lot more spanish as a companionship and having more lessons but still felt a little shaky about it. Last night the other elders asked us to do a blitz in their area which is basically mexico and everyone speaks spanish and it ended up that elder Neff and I were going together to find and hes even newer than I am so I was pretty worried to knock doors and need to speak Spanish, but I just had faith qnd we went a knocking and wow the spirit was very strong and i was able to say the things necessary to these people and we set 4 return dates, shared a scripture, and shared 2 book of mormons all in 45 minutes which is a miracle because the other elders kinda just did it because they thought itd be funny but the spirit guided us and helped us so much in the work.
But it was a really good week and the lords hand is in this work and in my life so strong it's quite awesome to see daily and I know all can feel of this love and joy in the service of their fellow men!
Thanks for all you all do for me in this work, thanks for all the emails, packages, love, and prayers. Thank you.
